About the role:

The Financial Compliance Specialist is an important role within Lincolnshire Co-op, supporting the Financial Accountant - Compliance with the development of a compliance framework for the Lincolnshire Co-op Finance Teams. You will work collaboratively with the wider finance function, providing process improvement support and developing a strong appreciation of a robust financial compliance culture.

In this role, you will be involved in reviewing and documenting processes, risks and controls and monitoring their ongoing effectiveness. You’ll assist and support our consultant internal auditors, working collaboratively to carry out internal audit work across the Society as part of a three-year rolling plan.

You will also be involved in the following:

  • Assisting with the set-up framework for process documentation, risk assessment and control mechanisms to be used on an ongoing basis.
  • Implementing policies and procedures for ensuring the completion of the documentation of all processes, risks and controls in compliance alongside the framework.
  • Assisting with the identification of process improvement opportunities to reduce risks and/or improve efficiencies.
  • Implementing selected process improvements and controls.

About You

To fulfil the requirements of the role, the ideal candidate will need to demonstrate the following:

  • A qualification in accountancy or a finalist accountant (ACA, ACCA or similar audit-based qualification).
  • Experience in an external or internal audit role.
  • Experience of systems and controls review and implementation.
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.

The ideal candidate will be well-organised and be able to prioritise their workload. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to convey technical and operational requirements in a way that is appropriate to your audience. You'll act as an ambassador for change across our business and be proficient with the use of IT systems, especially Microsoft Office 365 applications and accountancy software.
