I bought these chairs (and the table) for my two-year-old son and he adores them. I bought them in white which I would not do again! The white paint does not clean well (pencil and pen have both remained despite vigorous scrubbing). I chose white initially because I thought it would go with our decor better, but I wish I had chosen the blue.
The assembly was a breeze! I did it by myself 8 months pregnant. I did need my husband’s help starting one of the screws but he was able to do it in a heart beat.
The frame is wood but the chair backs are actually plastic. The backs have small animals pressed into them. The animals are cute but to be honest, I don’t think my son notices or cares! The chairs are not very heavy and my son easily moves them around the kitchen. They are very sturdy and he uses them as a stool to wash his hands or get into mischief, whatever his need may be.
The corners are pretty hard and could hurt a child, so if your child is accident prone you might consider a chair with rounded edges. I think my child enjoys how grown-up this set looks (with the exception of the small animals on the back).
I do however, wish I had gotten four chairs. I only bought two chairs because I figured that we didn’t have a lot of space and two would be plenty. However, whenever kids come over for dinner they want to sit at the “kid table” and I only have the two chairs. I will probably be going back for two more chairs at some point.
