Alfred Enderby wins Food Producer of the Year at Lincolnshire Food & Farming Awards

Alfred Enderby, a century-old smokehouse on Grimsby docks, has been proudly named Food Producer of the Year at the Lincolnshire Food and Farming Awards. This recognition celebrates their exceptional craftsmanship in smoking haddock, a tradition unchanged for 100 years, and their significant contributions to preserving Grimsby’s rich fishing heritage.

Alfred Enderby is not just a smokehouse; it's a symbol of artisanal excellence and historical significance. With a national online customer base, trade accounts with some of Britain’s finest fish suppliers, and accolades from celebrity chefs, they have cemented their status as a culinary gem. Their commitment to tradition and quality has garnered over 600 five-star reviews on Trustpilot, a testament to their outstanding products and service.

Employing a dedicated team of seven, Alfred Enderby recently received £125k in heritage funding to revamp their iconic building, further enhancing its appeal. Their recognition extends to Europe, with a prestigious PGI award, placing their smoked haddock in the same esteemed category as Cornish clotted cream and Melton Mowbray pork pies.

Despite the challenges of two world wars, economic recessions, and the evolution of Grimsby's fishing industry, Alfred Enderby has remained resilient, continuously wowing customers with first-class service and products. They also engage the community through unique experiences, like their catering boat Ro-Ro, launched by Marco Pierre White, and entertaining smokehouse tours.

Their achievements in media exposure, from TV appearances to winning major awards like the Great British Food awards and Quality Food awards, highlight their prowess in the food industry. Alfred Enderby's win as Food Producer of the Year is a tribute to their enduring legacy, culinary expertise, and the preservation of local history.

The Lincolnshire Food and Farming Awards are organised by Stonebow Media, publishers of The Lincolnite, and MyLocal Lincolnshire. The event was generously sponsored by Barclays Eagle Labs, Duncan & Toplis, Visual Print & Design, Masons Rural, Fizzco and Sills & Betteridge.
